Major Attractions Near Lakeside Pokhara
World Peace Pagoda
On a ledge overlooking Phewa Lake, this towering Pagoda was built by Buddhist monks from the Nipponzan Myohoji organization of Japan after World War II. The Pagoda can be reached by rowing along the Phewa Tal, then hiking for about an hour on the other side. It offers breathtaking views and serenity that will inspire contemplation and meditation. The Pagoda is also accessible by bus.
Fewa Taal (Fewa Lake)
The second largest lake in Nepal, Fewa Lake or Fewa Taal is a major attraction and a major landmark in Pokhara. Fewa Taal spreads across in lustrous grandeur over 1.5 km by 4 km and is about 47 meters deep. Machhapuchhre (6,993m) rises majestically in the background. During a clear day, the summit’s sparkling reflection can be seen on the lake, creating a magnificent image almost surreal in its magical quality.
On the shore of the lake, a variety of brightly colored wooden boats and sail boats await people to take them for leisurely rides.
Swimming is also popular in this beautiful lake, besides boating and fishing. The water is warm and pleasant, however there is no guarantee it is clean. Therefore, swimming here is not for the faint of heart.
People can pick anything interesting along the eastern shoreline of the lake; that could be an object, or simply beautiful memories. The eastern shoreline is lined up with endless hotels, lodges, restaurants, bookshops, and souvenir shops.
Varahi Mandir
The temple is located on a small island right in the middle of Phewa/Fewa Lake and you can access it by rowboat. Varahi/Barahi, the fierce goddess who is believed to grant all wishes, is revered as one of Pokhara’s holiest Hindu shrines.
Gurkha Museum
This museum chronicles the valiant achievements of the Gurkha regiment and includes interactive displays. It is located near Mahendra Pul, and it is Pokhara’s pride. The museum features a wall of fame recognizing prominent Gurkha soldiers, a video that explains its nuances, and exhibits displaying medals, artifacts, and weapons.
International Mountain Museum
The Himalayas and The explorers are the focus of the International Mountain Museum. The museum houses mountain climbing equipment from years ago, champion trekkers, and many other exciting details, as well as displays of the Himalayan flora and fauna. Outside, you can try your luck at mountain climbing, by scaling a replica of Mt Manaslu.
Devi’s Falls
In addition to being a small stream on the surface during the monsoon, half of this waterfall is underground. The water flows through an underground tunnel, emerging at the World Peace Pagoda’s Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave. This waterfall is actually known as Patale Chhango, but it is locally referred to as Devi’s Falls. Go and learn more about how it came to be named.
Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave
In Pokhara, the Gupteshwor Cave sits on the opposite side of Devi’s Falls, and it looks very much like Devi’s Falls with its long spiral staircase, beautifully carved figures, and red-hued colors.
Begnas Taal (Begnas Lake)
A peaceful and less-crowded alternative to Phewa Lake, Begnas Lake is located just outside of Pokhara. There are many activities to do here, including renting a boat, hiking, and fishing. A handful of bus stations are located near the lake, and it takes about 25 to 30 minutes by taxi or bus.
Sarangkot
Sarangkot, a high point above Pokhara, offers beautiful sunrises and sunsets. The journey up here is not as difficult as it looks – you just need to take a taxi or rent a scooter, and follow the well-marked trails to get there. If you’re looking for an adventure, you can also go paragliding from Sarangkot.
Things to do in Lakeside Pokhara
There are infinite things to do in this beautiful City Pokhara. Some of the most important things that you should do are enlisted below:
Paragliding
Take off at Sarangkot near Lakeside if you want to glide with the birds. Pokhara is one of the top paragliding destinations in the world. A lot of paragliding companies are located near the lake, so you should negotiate prices there – they have very competitive prices. Solo flights are available (if you are qualified), or tandem flights are available.
As long as the weather is conducive, you can paraglide all year round. Paragliding at its peak is between April and September. You can contact Frontiers Paragliding or Sunrise Paragliding. Remember to be insured. Paragliding equipment can also be rented from all companies.
Bungee Jump
This is Nepal’s only tower bungee jumping experience with a height of 70 meters and a plunge over an artificial pond. The lofty station is just 15 minutes away from Lakeside, Pokhara.
The High Ground Pokhara, Nepal is located 200 kilometers from Kathmandu, and offers zip-lines and zip-flying in Nepal.
Trekking
It is a wonderful opportunity to meet like-minded people and trek with them as Lakeside Pokhara is the starting point for trekkers who want to scale the Annapurna range. It takes at least three days to cover at least a part of the Annapurna Circuit – ideally, it takes 21 days to complete. October to December is the best time to trek the Annapurna Circuit, a famous route.
It costs NPR 2000 to obtain a permit card from the Annapurna Conservation Area Project before you can attempt this route. You will save up to 25 USD on accommodations and food when you join one of our guided tours. Booking these packages after you arrive is much cheaper. In the case of trekking alone or self-guided, supplies can be purchased at the local store.

Whitewater rafting and kayaking
The Narayani River and the Narayani River are both accessible for rafting near Lakeside. The Narayani River and the Narayani River are both available for kayaking.
