Chitlang Organic Village Resort

Chitlang

An ancient Newar village in Nepal, Chitlang is dominated by a tribal, and cultural group called the Newar. It holds a rich historical significance since it was one of the most popular stops on the old trade routes from Tibet to India, surrounded by the Chandragiri mountains. Located only a short distance from Kathmandu, Chitlang is the most popular hiking destination. The area is home to more than 100 species of birds, making it a heaven for ornithologists.

Mr. Debendra Nepal is credited with starting tourism in Chitlang with Chitlang Organic Village Resort, the first resort founded at Chitlang in 2010.

Chitlang’s cold can be easily digested by the warm welcome of homestays and resorts. Additionally, travel fatigue disappears quickly. Homestays and resorts offer a host of sights and tranquil landscapes throughout the day, including historical and cultural village tours, campfires, and dances.

Chitlang Homestays

Many internal tourists search for Chitlang Homestays to learn more about the culture, traditions, and lifestyle of the people of Chitlang Village.

Chitlang Homestays
Chitlang Homestays

The term “homestay” refers to fooding and accommodation at home of people from the area concerned which aren’t intended to serve customers.

The Chitlang Homestays offer a glimpse into the daily activities of the people of the chosen home, such as what is served, how it is made, and how it is arranged for dining.

The following are common to most Nepalese homes, too, if you’re thinking of chitlang homestays.

  • Generally, in villages, food is not cooked with gas cylinders, and gas stoves. Rather, wood is used for fire, and a special type of stove called “CHULO” is used.
  • You aren’t going to eat by sitting on Table. You’re supposed to sit on the Ground in which a Special type of sheet is laid. In Nepali, We call it “Gunri”. Gunri is basically made up of Paddy Straw. If you would like to know how it was made, You can watch this Video: Nepali Gundri of paddy straw in Rural Nepal.
  • Occasionally, you may be served with thicker rice.
  • Curry will be prepared with fresh vegetables.

Chitlang Tour Highlights

  • It is well known throughout Nepal that Chitlang’s Organic Vegetables are of the highest quality.
  • It is more famous to stay at Chitlang Homestays.
  • There is nothing better than being away from the bustle and hustle of the city in a peaceful, beautiful place.
  • It is through this village that people go on the Indra Sarovar Trek.
  • The village and forest around the village are full of Rhododendron, which is the national flower of Nepal. The flowers are even edible.
  • Chitlang offers goat cheese, and you won’t find a better cheese anywhere else.
  • Laxmi Prasad Devkota wrote this wonderful song “Kun Mandir Ma Janchau Yatri” while He was in Chitlang.

Chitlang History

Chitlang is also known for its connection to Nepal’s greatest poet, Laxmi Prasad Devkota. Laxmi Prasad Devkota had written the song “Kun Mandir Ma Janchau Yatri” (which basically means “Which Temple do you go to?” in English) in 1998 while living in Chitlang.

During his visit to Makwanpur, Devkota saw pilgrims on their way from India to see Pashupati Darshan, which prompted him to compose the song. His fountain of water and stone can still be seen today.

Chitlang as a Place on Major Trading Route Before Tribhuwan Highway

Prior to the construction of the Tribhuvan Highway, or byroad, traders used to cross the Chitlang trails to gain access to the valley as a major trading route. The ancient foot trail that extends from Thankot to Chandragiri Pass, Chitlang, and Kulekhani has lost its glory after the highway was constructed in the south. The ancient foot trail, however, has lost its glory as a result of the construction of the highway.

Chitlang Bounce Back as Tourist Hub

The tourism sector in Chitlang is booming, with more than a dozen homestays and half a dozen resorts operating in Chitlang as well as two new resorts being constructed. This indicates that investors are investing a lot of money in the sector.

It is popular among tourists to hike in Chitlang Valley and its surrounding areas, and many also enjoy cycling along green paddy terraces.

The village of Markhu will soon become a tourist village. The village of Chitlang is home to over 1,000 visitors per week, according to Tara Bahadur Basnet, president of the Homestay Operators Committee.

Major Attraction of Chitlang

Get Close With Nature

In Chitlang, you will often see hills teeming with greenery. This famous landmark- intriguing pear farms- is often evident in social media posts.

In any case, I would like to point out that here, at the crack of dawn, you can enjoy peaceful walks because the light of the rising sun gradually chases away the darkness, and the surrounding hills become stunningly green as a result. It is also worth mentioning that you might like to explore the nearby forest, which is home to many birds. Bird watching is definitely one of the things that you should not miss when in Chitlang.

Shivalaya

There are fine wood carvings on the bricks that make up this ancient structure, which is located in the second ward of the village. Nepal’s fine arts, artistry, and craftsmanship are reflected in the décor of the building. In addition to the decorative artistic pillars and the Tunal Arts, the architectural style of the building is also noteworthy.

Shivalaya - Ancient Structure of Chitlang
Shivalaya – Ancient Structure of Chitlang

Architectural resources of cultural tourism are in urgent need of renovation and conservation due to their deterioration. Located on the extreme north-east side of Chitlang, this legendary structure is situated near Bhimphedi, a strategic point for the journey to and from Kathmandu before the advent of the modern world. It is an ancient temple dedicated to Shiva, with three Gajurs.

Asoka Chaita

In the Thaha Municipality, this temple was built by King Asoka of Magadh during the Kirat era when he came to Nepal. He also built several other Chaitya temples during this time as well. Every year, on the occasion of Buddha’s birthday, the Buddhists of Kathmandu gather here to celebrate.

Kartik Purnima Naach

Chitlang’s Naach culture, also known as Kartik Punhi Jatra, is one of the most famous in the world. This is the oldest culture of the Newars, and is celebrated not only for the sake of preserving its history, but also to attract tourists. This “Naach” is for five days and took place in Mazgaon Chitlang-5. The dance “Naach” is beautiful and attractive and worships several gods and goddesses at the same time.

SatDhara

Traditionally, the seven stone taps close to the gods Ganesh, Shiva, Krishna, and Saraswoti were used to provide water for the gods. This is why the name ‘Saatdhara’ is derived. Almost all of the Katush trees surround the place, creating the illusion of a natural garden.

SatDhara - Chitlang
SatDhara – Chitlang

A colorful festival is celebrated at Satdhara every year on the day of Basanta Panchami where the locals worship Goddess Saraswati and pay their respects.

Goat Farming

It lies at a distance of 5 KM from the resort and is the largest grazing land in Nepal. Previously, there was sheep farming there. Chitlang has taken the initiative to make goat cheese with the assistance of the firm.

As a result of goat milk, the goat cheese factory in Nepal is well known and important. This industry is also well established in Chitlang. In addition to earning income, this industry produces the majority of the cheese in Nepal and distributes it throughout the country.

Explore The Neighbourhood

Upon entering yet another part of Chitlang, you will experience a variety of cultures and lifestyles because it is a hushed neighborhood home to various castes. Old brick structures in some parts of the village are adorned with dried chili and maize hanging on the window sills, as if they were taken from a Newar settlement in Kathmandu, while others have been painted brown organically.

It is a quaint village full of surprises, from hidden waterfalls to abandoned old houses.

If you’re searching for the best place to stay near Kathmandu with Adventure, Sukute Beach Resort can be your Best Choice in which you can even do rafting., Also, Dhulikhel Resort is near to the Kathmandu, and it takes only an hour to reach Dhulikhel from Kathmandu.

Bhaleshwor Mahadev — Mythological Significance

According to Himvatakhanda, Bhaleshwor Mahadev appeared at the location where Satidevi’s ‘Bhala’, or forehead, had fallen off.

After Daksha Prajapati insulted Shiva in front of scores of gods and goddesses invited to the religious ceremony, Sati Devi, Shiva’s consort, is believed to have sacrificed herself by jumping into the fire pyre during her father’s yagna (sacred fire ritual). As Shiva walked around the world as a madman for a long period of time, he carried her dead body on his back and did not take note of Satidevi’s decomposing body as he walked across the globe. During Lord Shiva’s mourning, a number of ‘shakti-centers’ were established at the different sites where parts of Satidevi’s body fell.

The site of Bhaleshwor Mahadev’s appearance was transformed into a temple.

Chandragiri Bhaleshwor Mahadev Temple – During Construction

A low-ranking Hindu deity known as Gandharva, also referred to as Sumukha, is also associated with the legend of Bhaleshwor Mahadev. Sumukha forced Rambha, a courtier who recently retired from Heaven, which is considered Indra’s kingdom. Sumukha was then cursed by Rambha for his misdemeanor, and he was forced to leave his abode in heaven in order to live on earth.

A sage named Galab offered Sumukha a way out of the curse he was living in while he wandered around the mortal world living under the curse. He advised Sumukha to do this after performing daily penances and offering prayers before Bhaleshwor Mahadev, whom Sumukha followed. Once Mahadev had complied with the demands, he blessed Sumukha and arranged her marriage to Rambha. Bhaleshwor also took Sumukha into his home as his personal assistant as well.

Halesi Mahadev Temple Tour

Haleshi Mahadev Temple Entry Point on Night

Located in eastern Nepal, Halesi Mahadev is located in a natural cave on a small hill. It is believed that the temple has existed for at least 6000 years and is situated within a beautiful and mysterious natural cave. Dudh Koshi and Sun Koshi flow through the temple, and it is believed to have been established for at least 6000 years.

Halesi Mahadev is a temple that contains three mysterious caves that are thought to represent Lord Shiva’s three eyes. In addition to serving as a revered religious site and a popular tourist destination, the Halesi cave is 67 feet below ground. It is customary to perform special ceremonial rites at Haleshwor Mahadev.

Table of Contents

Cave

A revered religious place and a popular tourist destination, this cave is located 67 feet underground. In the entrance, it is shaped like a half moon and faces east. It has a circular shape with a distance of 193 feet with a separate cave beneath, and a floor circumference of 223 feet.

Haleshi Mahadev Cave - Maratika
Haleshi Mahadev Cave – Maratika

History

According to a Hindu myth, Shiva fled Halesi from a demon called Bhasmasura, whose purpose was to kill him, and fled to Halesi. When Shiva broke through the ceiling of the cave and fled, Vishnu tricked the monster and killed him. As Shiva Mahadeva stepped on the wall before disappearing from the hole, he is said to have left a large footprint on the ceiling of the wall. This woodland was used to hunt by a Rai caste hunter centuries later.

The hunting dog and he searched for the deer in the bushes, but neither returned after the deer ran into the bushes. The villagers helped them find a cave in the bushes. A Shivalinga wrapped in a serpent was found in the cave when they entered it, which surprised them. They became overjoyed to see it and started worshiping it as a Shivalinga place.

A Tibetan Buddhist named the place Halesi after visiting it and pronounced “holyasso,” a Tibetan word for “place of wonders.” The word became distorted and people called it Halesi as a result. Maratika is regarded as a sacred place in Hindu tradition where “all three mandalas have been completed, a jewel that surpasses any other place in India in fulfilling spiritual seekers’ wishes.”

Buddhism reveres it as the place where the great Guru Rimpoche, Padmasambhava attained immortality through meditation.

Major Attractions

It is interesting to visit Halesi’s cave shrine because of its geological features. It is common to find caves and potholes surrounding the small hamlet of Halesi with naturally created cavities, leading to a variety of rock constructions. A wide variety of pilgrims cross these narrow corridors, and now these corridors are known as paapdwaras, dharmadwaras, garbhadwaras, svargadwaras, and karmadwaras.

It has been said that Halesi Mahadev is a mysterious sign from the gods and is one of the world’s most astonishing geological formations. It is believed that the founder of the Kirat religion originated here, and Hindus venerate Halesi Mahadev as one of their six main pilgrimage sites. Buddhists venerate Halesi as one of their six key pilgrimages.

Many people come here to perform soul searching, religious and spiritual quests for salvation, and it is regarded as a mystical and spiritual location in Nepal.

Sikles Trek - Explore Sikles Village, Kapuche Lake

Sikles Village

You can enjoy an unspoiled natural environment and encounter traditional cultures throughout the Sikles Trek, located northeast of Pokhara in the Annapurna Region.

As the second largest Gurkha community in Nepal, Sikles village is situated above the Mardi river. Prince Charles of England visited this village in 1980 to show his appreciation for the Gurkhas.

There are many things that make trekking to Sikles longing for every trekker, in addition to the breathtaking mountain views, cultivated land, terraced fields, traditional houses, stone-paved paths, Gumbas, and chirping birds. The route is covered in dense rhododendron woods throughout, and there are lots of chirping birds.

Shaman practice, rituals and ceremonies can be observed on certain occasions in the village, making it a very fascinating place for outsiders to see. The village is mostly inhabited by Gurungs and ex-Gurkhas who served in the Second World War.

Despite its less explored location, this region will offer you unforgettable experiences and heartwarming memories.

There were many aspects of this trek that we thoroughly enjoyed: we explored handmade local handicrafts, we watched Begnas Tal (lake) – the second largest lake in the region after Phewa Lake, we tasted local foods, and we observed their culture, tradition, and lifestyle among other things.

Table of Contents

Itinerary Of Sikles Kapuche Lake Trek

Day 1: Drive from Pokhara to Sikles (Altitude 1980 m). Exploration of Sikles Village.

Leaving Pokhara after breakfast, you will travel 36.7 kilometers by off-road to Sikles. It will take around 3 hours to reach Sikles. You will pass through many beautiful villages along the way. There are also beautiful villages on the way to Sikles village, including Taprang, Chipli Gaun, and Khilang, but they are smaller settlements compared to Sikles. On the way to Sikles village, you will see gorgeous mountains and green hills welcoming you.

On a small hill at a height of 1980 meters, Sikles is a beautiful Gurung Community village. After reaching Sikles, you will be captivated by its cultural and traditional beauty. Take a village tour and learn about local culture, architecture, and traditions. People are friendly and helpful at the same time. You can also visit the Eco-Museum.

A view tower offers a great view of the whole village, as well as the opportunity to climb it. Similarly, it is also possible to hike up to Sikles Park and Rising Dada, which will take around 30 minutes for the average hiker, from where you will have a mesmerizing view of the Annapurna II, Lamjung Himal, and other mountains. In Sikles, you can stay overnight in a village tea house/lodge.

Day 2: Trek from Sikles to Huwu (Hugu) (Altitude 2100 m).

In the morning, you will have breakfast before setting off on your first trek day on the 7th of May 2011 to the village of Huwu following the stone stairway and stone path. Once you cross the village of Sikles, you can see some of the most magnificent mountains in the world such as Annapurna II and Lamjung Himal up close.

Afterwards, you’ll descend on the same trails and see the Edi Jharna waterfall (64 m), which is an adventurous walk. Upon returning from the waterfall, you’ll continue your trek and ascend uphill. A steep and large stone path leads you through small rivers and bridges before finally reaching Huwu village. After some pictures and a short rest, you will resume your trek.

There is a lot of greenery in the route between Sikles and Hugu, a forest path, a riverbank sidewalk, and an overall amazing experience. Hugu is about six hours away. On the way, there are no rest stops or villages. You may come across some villages along the way. The basic tea house in Huwu will be where you will stay overnight sleeping on mats and sleeping bags.

Day 3: Trek from Huwu to Kahphuche Lake (Altitude 2450 m) and back to Sikles (Altitude 1980 m)

A trek from Huwa to Kahphuche Lake is scheduled for early in the morning today. The Kahphuche Lake is the lowest glacial lake in Nepal. It lies at 2,450 meters above sea level. The trek is relatively short and easy compared with other trails on your journey. It takes 2 hours to reach crystal clear Kahphuche Lake, after which you’ll enjoy the beautiful mountain range and peaceful wildlife.

Kapuche Lake
Kapuche Lake

Kahphuche Lake provides you with beautiful scenery, surrounded by mountains with a crystal clear blue lake in front. There are no words or lenses that can adequately describe the beauty of this lake. If you are lucky, you’ll get to see an avalanche from Annapurna II. You’ll return to Huwa village after spending time and taking some pictures. And then you’ll go back to Sikles as you did previously. It will take you less time to return than it did to arrive.

Day 4: Drive back to Pokhara.

After having breakfast, the hotel owner leaves you with a traditional farewell as he bids Tika farewell. Then you drive back to Pokhara.

A Buddhist and Hindu shrine is located on the top of Champa Devi Hill, which is located at an elevation of 2,285 meters. The top is submitted after a three-hour motivating walk. There are a number of mountains of the central and western Himalayas that can be seen from the summit of Langtang, Gauri Shanker, Jugal, Dorge Lakpa, among others. On Champadevi Hiking, we can see Chanpa Devi’s open shrine and the Buddhist monastery at the top after about 3 hours of walking. Then you can climb up Bhasmasur Hill, a hill higher than Chapma Devi, otherwise you can go back by another route to Kathmandu.

Champa Devi Hike Price

Champa Devi Hike is close to Kathmandu Valley and is one of the easiest hikes. Therefore, there is no service provider that can offer you the complete hike package.

For fooding purposes, you need at least NRS 2,000, whereas staying overnight requires more than NRS 2,000.

This short Champa Devi Trek requires NRS 4,000 in total. You can easily complete this hike in 6 hours if you have a bike, and NRS 500 will be enough if you eat light meals and buy a couple of water bottles.

Highlights of the trip

  • Spend a relaxing day away from the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu
  • View the Kathmandu Valley and Pharping from an aerial perspective
  • The pine forests are fully narrated on this tour
  • With stone steps, this walking trail is well maintained
  • There are different starting points for the route to reach the summit (the route could start at Bhanjyang, Khahare, Taudaha, or Dallu and end at any of these points, or Chandragiri, which would require you to walk 7.3km further).
  • For a more personalized experience, hire a private guide
  • A bus is readily available, and you can walk uphill easily

Beyond Champa Devi

From Champa Devi’s summit, you can continue down and up to the fishtail’s unnamed western peak – which is actually a slightly higher peak, standing at 2286 metres, which is actually slightly higher than Champa Devi’s summit. It is reasonable to estimate that it will take you one hour (or slightly less) to continue west along the ridge, where you will follow a well-made path down to a saddle and then ascend to a higher peak (2509m).

Kathmandu Valley Seen from Chama Devi Temple Hike Trail
Kathmandu Valley Seen from Chama Devi Temple Hike Trail

A couple of hours or so further, one will find another ridge that traces south for about an hour and a half, and this route will bring you up to the highest peak of the range, Bhasmesur (2622m). According to legend, this peak was built by Vishnu, who tricked the evil demon into incinering himself.

In the west of the Bhasmesur spur, there is a path that departs from the ridge and heads north (even if the ridge-line is a little confused – and there are illegal charcoal burn pits which contribute to that confusion as well), then descends a steep and seemingly endless stone staircase to the village of Machegaon (90 minutes downhill), from where there are various trails and roads leading back to Kirtipur.

Packing List for Champadevi Hiking

  • Snacks
  • Lunch
  • At least 1 liter of water per person

Best time to trek Everest Base Camp

Fall and spring are the most popular times of year to trek to Everest Base Camp. In Nepal, spring begins in February and lasts until May. Warm temperatures, lots of sunlight, and blooming rhododendrons and wildflowers describe this season.

Fall is the best time to hike the Himalayas, so those who wish to take in the best view should also consider this opportunity. Trekking is most popular between September and November. Mostly because there isn’t much rain, it’s entirely sunny, and it’s unobstructed views so you can see the horizon clearly. You can also add travel during other timeframes.

In Nepal, summer is characterized by the seasonal monsoon. There are heavy rains, fast-flowing rivers, and lush greenery here. During this period, you will not have to share the trail with many additional tourists.

Snowy mountain views and chilly temperatures make winter a great choice. We will make sure your trip to Everest Base Camp becomes a memorable one, no matter what timeframe you choose.

Day 02: Kathmandu Valley Sightseeing Tour and Trekking Preparation

In today’s tour, you’ll see some of the most famous landmarks in Kathmandu. Stupa Boudhanath, Pashupatinath Temple, Kathmandu Durbar Square, and Swayambhunath Temple are cultural assets of Kathmandu and protected by UNESCO.

Experienced city tour guides will lead you to these cultural and religious sites. His/her knowledge of this history and the local legends and folklore will be valuable for you. Boudhanath Stupa is a Buddhist stupa that is one of the oldest in Asia.

Nepal’s most sacred Shiva shrine is the Pashupatinath Temple. Many travel brochures feature this temple, and Marvel’s Dr. Strange starred here as well. On the bridge below the temple, a part of this famous Hollywood film was shot. It may be eye-opening to observe Hindu cremation rites at Arya Ghat.

One of three royal squares in Kathmandu is Kathmandu Durbar Square. Durbar square was built in the medieval era and later served as the royal seat of the Malla rulers and the Shah dynasty. Inside the royal square is the house of Kumari, the Living Goddess. The hilltop shrine in Swayambhunath is a place of worship for both Buddhists and Hindus.

The legend tells that there was a stupa here built by Boddhisattva Manjushri exactly when Kathmandu took form. You will return to your hotel after your sightseeing tour. Day 03: Fly to Lukla and Trek to Phakding (2652m)

Walking Distance – 8 km

Duration: 3 hours

One of the world’s most stunning trekking destinations, Mt Everest is the highest peak in the world sitting at 8848 m. Mountain Sagarmatha has long been revered as the home of the gods. The mountain was first conquered by Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay in 1953.

During this journey, you will climb to the mountaineer’s base camp and get a glimpse into the incredible Sherpa culture. Glaciers, plateaus, passes, and valleys will be crossed on your journey to the Everest Base Camp. Along the way, we have tea houses that are small and basic. They offer simple but delicious meals to sustain our efforts, as well as basic but cosy remote houses operated by mountain Nepalese. It is a challenging trip and involves trekking at high altitudes, but the overall experience is breathtaking!

Our flight from Kathmandu to Lukla (45 minutes) is very early today (approximately 6.30 am). From the small plane, you can see an amazing view of the Himalayas if the weather is good. A short safety talk and a brief introduction to our porters are followed by breakfast in Lukla (2840 m). Upon arriving at Phakding (2610 m), we will follow the milk-white Dudh Kosi River for approximately three hours.

Day 04: Phakding to Namche Bazaar (3440m)

  • Walking Distance – 10 to 12 km
  • Duration: 6 hours

The trek today will take you about 7 hours to Namche Bazaar, where you’ll spend a couple of days acclimatizing. Additionally, you may see Everest for the first time. Phakding is the starting point for the journey up the Namche Bazaar. After crossing the river, you will follow the path of the porters.

The trail, which runs through a blue pine forest, follows the river valley. Rhododendron flowers are particularly spectacular in spring. You’ll see two peaks above 6,000 metres at Benkar, including Kusum Kanguru (6369m) and Thamserku (6623m). We recommend stopping for lunch at Monjo (2835m).

It gets tougher from here, with a steep ascent to Namche Bazaar. Continue upstream once you enter the national park, passing through the village of Jorsale (2,805m). Continue up Namche Bazaar and cross yet another suspension bridge.

Take your camera out as you will be able to see the three peaks of Everest, Lhotse, and Nuptse for the first time. This is your last opportunity to check your equipment and hire any additional gear you may need for the high altitudes from Dingboche onwards. During Namche Bazaar, you can also enjoy the local nightlife and play pool or take in a movie.

Day 05: Acclimatization Day – Hike to Everest View Hotel (3,962m)

  • Walking Distance – 3 to 4 km
  • Duration: 3 to 4 hours

You will stay another night in Namche Bazaar in order to properly acclimatize to the altitude. It is recommended to ascend to a high altitude and then descend back down to sleep, so there will be an optional morning walk above the Bhote Khola Valley towards Thami (3,810m).

From the headquarters of the national park above the village, you can enjoy a beautiful view both in the morning and at sunset. Stunning views of the Khumbu peaks and Everest are included in this view.

There is a Sherpa lifestyle & culture exhibit at the park headquarters, along with displays on local flora & fauna. Namche became important during the trade of Tibetan salt for lowland grains in Nepal. In the village centre, you can still find clothing, rugs, salt, and dried meat, so don’t hesitate to haggle for anything you may need.

  • Duration: 5 hours

During our hike from Namche Bazaar to Phortse, we covered 9 km in about 6-7 hours. The route offers fascinating insights into the culture and life of the sherpas, and that night we stay in a village where a number of sherpas have reached the summit of Everest. Amadablam can be seen clearly from Phortse.

In total, we gain 370 meters in altitude between our sleeping spots.

  • Duration: 5 hours

Dingboche is about 8 km away at the top of the tree-line. The trek takes approximately six hours. Here, you’ll find a patchwork of stone walls enclosing a beautiful patchwork of small fields. Cold winds are protected from the crops of barley and potatoes by these walls.

As before, the scenery is breathtaking, and although Everest is hidden behind Lhotse-Nuptse Ridge, the giant peaks that rise above the eastern end of the valley make it well worth the trip. Depending on the weather, you might see incredible sunsets with the mountain peaks illuminated — Ama Dablam, Lhotse’s south face, as well as Island Peak in the valley’s center.

Our altitude gain between places we sleep is 600 meters.

Day 09: Dingboche to Lobuche (4910m)

  • Walking Distance – 11 to 12 km
  • Duration: 5 hours

On the small ridge behind Dingboche, just above Pheriche valley, ascend the small ridge. Taweche and Cholatse (6440m) can be seen across the valley to the west from the stupa at the summit. The skyline is dominated to the north by Lobuje Peak (6119m) and the snowfields of Cho La.

There are no rushes this time around, so take your time and drink plenty of water. The going will be more or less flat on open fields now. In the afternoon, you will cross the Khumbu Khola at Dughla and have lunch in the enormous terminal moraines of the Khumbu Glacier flowing off Everest.

The climb to the top of the moraines will begin in the afternoon on a rocky trail. Toward the top of the ridge, you’ll see a line of memorial cairns (stacks of stones), built as a tribute to the climbers and Sherpas who have perished on various Everest expeditions over the last 50 years or so.

Once again, the view is breathtaking, with Pumori (7145m), Lingtren (6697m), Khumbutse (6623m), and across the border in Tibet, Changtse (7550m), encircling you. You will arrive at Lobuje early afternoon after following the valley stream.

Lobuche is about six hours and seven kilometers away, bringing us closer to our goal!

Between the places we sleep, we gain a total of 490m in altitude.

Day 10: Lobuche to Gorakshep (5180m/16990ft) - Everest Base Camp (5364m) and back to Gorakshep

Gorak Shep

  • Walking Distance – 14 to 15 km
  • Duration- 8 hours

It’s the big day, Everest Base Camp day. While walking at altitude, you must initially gain a slow and steady rhythm in order to be able to process the rapid ascents and descents.

The approach to Changri Nup Glacier takes you over a rocky path marked with cairns until you reach the glacial sands of Gorak Shep (5160m) – halfway across the moraine in about three hours of walking.

Get your gear on and go to Everest Base Camp while you’re eating a quick snack. The trek to the base camp can be completed in three hours, and yaks and porters will almost certainly be supplying food and equipment to expeditions here during the popular climbing season of March to May.

Everest Base Camp does not offer views of Mount Everest, but you can see glaciers, lakes, caves, and the infamous Everest Ice Fall flowing from the Western Cwm. A section of the mountain regarded as being most dangerous and hard to climb.

Returning from Gorak Shep to Base Camp takes the same amount of time as the journey there. The next morning, you will wake up early to take in the breathtaking views of the Himalayan giants from Kala Patar.

NOTE: There is approximately a 3-hour trek to Gorak Shep (5160 m) and approximately a 5-hour round trip to Everest Base Camp.

Between the places we sleep, we gain a total of 240m of altitude.

Day 11: Gorakshep - Kala Patthar (5545m) then trek back to Pheriche (4210m/13810ft)

  • Walking Distance – 13 to 14 km
  • Duration – 7 hours

There are many recognizable sights in the Himalayas today. The best view of Everest can be found from Kala Pattar (5545 m), so we get up early to avoid the early morning clouds.

When you see Everest, don’t be surprised if you get a little tear in your eye. Enjoy this extra special moment for as long as you like and embrace that emotion. Ascend slowly, following a steady rhythm as you ascend from the lodge.

Kala Patar is a rocky hilltop below Pumori. Despite the difficulty of the walk due to the altitude, you’ll be amazed by the views from the top. To reach the summit from Gorak Shep will probably take about an hour and a half, although lower viewpoints will provide almost as good views.

The Everest massif – Nuptse, Changtse, Ama Dablam, Taweche, Kantega and Nuptse – are all here. At the bottom of Khumbu Ice Fall, some 200 meters below, can be found the Everest Base Camp, located about three kilometres away. From here, it is downhill all the way. When you reach Gorak Shep, the descent to the lodge is easy and you will have a quick drink before heading to your rooms to prepare breakfast.

Following breakfast, you will depart for Lobuche and Thugla, where lunch will be served. As you head for Pheriche, you will cross the Khumbu Khola and then descend the valley below Cholatse.

Your leader will decide where you will spend the night based on how your group feels after a long walking day (approx. 8 hours).

Day 12: Pheriche to Namche (3440m)

  • There are no meals included on this day.

Day 13: Namche to Lukla (2800m)

  • Walking Distance – 18 to 19 km
  • Duration – 7 hours

You can reach Lukla by taking the downhill trail. When you reach the final point of your trek, take in as many views of the mountains as you can. You will stay overnight at a local teahouse once you reach Lukla. Your trip comes to an end in the evening when you celebrate with the crew.

The porters, guides, and assistant guides will sing, dance, and brew local beer endlessly. Taking this opportunity to thank your local EBC crew is a good idea. You can leave them tips before going to bed and bidding farewell to most of them.

Upper Mustang Trek Itinerary with Cost - Best Guide

Upper Mustang Trek

The Upper Mustang trek is the ultimate gateway to the mysterious world of the old Buddhist kingdom of Mustang, also called Lo. Once forbidden and isolated from the rest of the world for decades, the area was able to evolve within its own distinctive culture and rich traditions closely tied to Tibet. This moderate, lesser-known trek passes through one of the driest regions of Nepal and provides spectacular mountain scenery.

To trek in Upper Mustang is a rare privilege. Here you will experience a way of life of true mountain people, who for hundreds of years, had very little contact with the rest of Nepal and retained their rich cultural heritage. Until recent times their king was officially recognized by the Government of Nepal.

In many ways, a trek into Upper Mustang is similar to trekking in Tibet, as geographically it is a part of the Tibetan plateau. The district of Mustang was, until 1950, a separate kingdom within the boundaries of Nepal. The last king, the Raja of Mustang, still has his home in the ancient capital known as Lo Manthang.

Table of Contents

Highlights of Upper Mustang Trek

  • You will walk back to the history of Lo Manthang after exploring the palace of king Lo.
  • You can walk freely without worrying about the rain as the region lies in the rain shadow area of Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges.
  • You will have a spiritual feel walking through many Gompas, chortens, flapping prayer flags, caves, rock paintings, and century-old monasteries.
  • You will catch a live glimpse of Tibetan influence on the everyday activities and culture of the locals there.
  • You will be proceeding further on the trip with the enticing views of Nilgiri, Annapurna, Dhaulagiri, and other chains of mountains.
  • Breathe the spirituality of the Tibetan-like people and monks with their prayer flags, mani walls, and ritual chanting.
  • You will witness of everyday life and culture of the local people who live closely like their Tibetan neighbors.

Trek Length And Terrain

The main itinerary above is approximately 100 kilometers but as mentioned this can also be adapted if you prefer. Each day the trek starts after breakfast at about 8.30 am and there are many opportunities to stop, absorb the views, take photos or have a cup of tea along the trail. The pace is slow and the itinerary allows for excellent acclimatization through the beauty of this trek is that we don’t go to any particular height. Most days trekking is for 6 or 7 hours and generally finished by mid-afternoon.

The terrain is along well-trodden and defined paths which can be sandy and desert-like in places and at other times rocky. There is no need for crampons or any technical equipment or skills, it is purely a trek. The Mustang is un-spoilt with a rich Tibetan culture due to it having been closed to the rest of Nepal and elsewhere until the early 1990s, however, you will find a warm and friendly welcome. The valley is essentially a large dried-up ravine that is also in the Himalayan monsoon shadow, so it is possible to visit for most of the year, however, we would suggest you avoid mid-winter and consider any time from March through to late November.

People who enjoy hill-walking, trekking, stunning scenery, fascinating cultures, and who are moderately fit will love this adventure.

If you are looking for the perfect option for trekking in Nepal during the summer months, the Upper Mustang will automatically come on your radar. Thanks to the Upper Mustang being in the rain shadow of the Annapurnas, you can experience crystal clear days and dry weather this time of the year. Interestingly enough, the summer months are also relatively quiet. The best teahouses will be yours. The most popular times of the year are Spring and Autumn.

In May, the Tiji Festival is held. Many trekkers like to combine their adventure with this traditional festival. The three-day festival takes place on the premises of the former king of Mustang’s palace. The locals from far and wide visit Lo Manthang (Upper Mustang) to participate in the festival. You can also go trekking in the Upper Mustang in winter, but you will have to make sure you are bringing the right gear.

Trekking Checklist: What to Bring on Upper Mustang Trek?

Bag pack For Trekking

Your gear is your best friend while being out in the mountains. It, in fact, doesn’t matter where you are going, your equipment is key. In extreme cases, gear can make the difference between life and death. In every case, the right equipment can make the difference between you having a good time and ending up miserable.

You have booked your tickets, your guide in Nepal is waiting and now you rock up with a too-heavy backpack, a jacket that is not thick enough, and shoes that are very likely going to give you blisters. What a waste. Pack the right gear and make more of your trip to Poon Hill. Before we start, note one important thing. We are trekking, not climbing. Hence, you can leave the ropes, the chalk, and the carabiners in your closet.

Below we present you a basic comprehensive packing list suitable for any trek in Nepal including the Upper Mustang Trek:

– Duffel Bag
Rucksack with Rain Cove Daypack
– Hiking Boots
Sandals or Shoes

– Trekking Poles
Inner Socks
– Thermal Baselayer

Upper Mustang Trek - Accommodation

Accommodation throughout our trek is in basic but comfortable lodges which are run by local Mustang families. Each lodge has a central communal area with a large stove that provides heat and a cozy atmosphere. The bedrooms are unheated and generally have two beds with mattresses, pillows, and a blanket. You will need to bring a sleeping bag (3 seasons is fine) and we’d recommend a pillowcase.

The lodges generally have showers that are powered by gas and they mostly use sit-down flush toilets (some lodges do also have squat toilets). Food on the Upper Mustang trek is very good quality and a mixture of local Nepali / Tibetan and western food. A common, tasty, and fulfilling local meal is dal bhat with rice.

We don’t provide hotels in Kathmandu as there is such a huge range available but of course happy to recommend or book hotels if required. We do provide accommodation in Pokhara and Jomsom on a twin room basis.

More Information About Upper Mustang Trek

Upper Mustang has opened to non-Nepali trekkers only some fifteen years ago and even today, access is still highly restricted. To enter Upper Mustang, that is to travel further north of Kagbeni, trekkers need a special trekking permit and must be accompanied by a government-appointed official.

Upper Mustang, being in the Himalayan rain shadow, is one of the regions in the country suitable for trekking even during the monsoons. During this time, the upper Kali Gandaki valley is still quite dry with only occasional rainfall.

The Mustang trek is not particularly difficult, the highest point reached being only 3,800 meters, but the conditions at times can be arduous. Mustang is cold in winter and is always windy and dusty throughout the year. Winter treks are best avoided due to harsh weather.

There are few accommodation facilities available above Kagbeni, so groups must be fully self-sufficient, especially in fuel. While porters are available in Jomsom it is preferable to use mules to carry the loads up to Mustang. These pack animals are available locally and are more economical, and certainly more environmentally friendly than porters.

The rugged desert terrain of Upper Mustang is complemented by splashes of green vegetation for agriculture and pastures.

Poon Hill Trek – A Ultimate Guide for Short Trek

Poon Hill Trek

The Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek is an easy to moderate level trek that is considered one of the best treks in Nepal. This trek offers striking views of some of the most majestic Himalayan Mountains like Fishtail, Annapurna South, and Hiuchuli. During the trek, you walk amongst lush green forests blazing with beautiful red rhododendron.

You will get a chance to observe the lives of the local Gurung tribe when you stay amidst the beautiful hamlet that you cross on your way. On the way, you will be tracing the ancient trade routes used by Nepalese people. Poon Hill is a place known for its beautiful views of the rising sun. Here you can see the sun dawning on some of the highest Himalayan Mountain ranges. This trek route is famous for its alternating gradient between forests, plain fields, and hills.

Table of Contents

Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek - Overview

During the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek, you will pass through charming hamlets and villages and see some of the most magnificent snow-capped mountain peaks. You shall get a chance to see the lifestyle of the native Gurung people in the villages and enjoy the traditional Nepalese hospitality.

This trekking in Pokhara lets you experience the magical sunrise at the Poon Hill viewpoint. Throughout your trek, you shall be able to grasp the view of Himalayan ranges that constitute Mt. Dhaulagiri, Annapurna I, Machhapuchhre, Nilgiri, Annapurna South, Annapurna II, Annapurna III, Annapurna IV, and Lamjung Hima.

Best Route for Poon Hill Trek

Ghorepani Poon Hill TrekLike other trekking routes in the Annapurna Sanctuary park, you have different starting and finishing points for this trek. The most popular way is to start in Nayapul and to finish in Ghandruk (we walked this way as most trekkers do), the total ascent for the route will be 3000 m and total descend 1996 m.

You can do it the other way around; to start in Ghandruk and to finish in Nayapul as you can see on the graph this way you’ll get less ascend and more descend compared to Nayapul – Ghandruk option; about 2000 m up and 3000 m down. There are jeeps and buses to Pokhara from both villages.

Note: If it rains a lot the road from Ghandruk gets very muddy and there might be no buses to Pokhara from there. You can walk to Kimche from Ghandruk then (4 km extra and 300 m more down) or all the way to Kande through Australian Camp (plus 16 km and quite a lot of up and down extra).

There are four different options that you can consider when choosing your perfect Poon Hill Trek. Either of them starts in Pokhara, the gateway to the Annapurnas.

Starting in Nayapul – Finishing in Ghandruk

Distance: 40 kilometers
Elevation: 3000 meters

Ghorepani Trek Support: Guided Vs Independent Trek

We prefer to hike independently when it’s possible for us it’s more interesting to find the way, arrange accommodation, carry our own backpacks, etc. I understand some people want to spend their holiday in a more relaxing way without doing too much planning or worrying if something goes wrong. To plan the Poon Hill trek is much easier than to plan the Everest Base Camp trek itinerary.

Independent trek

Merits

  • The obvious one, it’s much cheaper than a tour.
  • It’s more adventurous you do all the logistics and planning yourself.
  • You’re more flexible you decide if want to walk further or stay somewhere longer etc.

Demerits

  • It might be a bit difficult to plan and to walk on your own if it’s your first hike.
  • You’ll have to sort out any issue or problem on the way on your own

Guided trek

Merits

  • It’s easy no need to worry about route planning, finding accommodation, packing light because you have to carry your own backpack, etc.
  • If you’re lucky to find a knowledgeable guide who speaks good English you can learn a lot about local culture, food, lifestyle, etc.

Demerits

  • It’s much more expensive.
  • It takes away some part of the adventure.
  • You have to stick to the group even if the itinerary doesn’t suit you well.

Third Option – Hiring a Guide or a Porter

Poon Hill Trek GuideThis is a good idea if you don’t want to join a group tour but don’t feel confident enough to walk alone, plus you create a working opportunity for local people. We never used a guide on any of the hikes in Nepal but we saw many tourists walking with a guide or a porter.

The best way of finding a good reliable guide is recommendations from other tourists e.g. on the forums or Facebook groups dedicated to hiking in Nepal.

We asked around at the agencies in Pokhara and the average price is US$20/NPR. 2000 per day for a porter and US$25/NPR 2700 per day for a guide. A porter can carry up to 20-25kg you can get one porter for two or three people. Same with a guide you can share one guide between a couple of people or even a group. You can hire both but in my opinion, it’s unnecessary.

Best Season for Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek

When doing the Poon Hill Trek, you will not be trekking and hiking in the most extreme conditions. After all, this trek does not go higher than an altitude of a little over 3.000 meters. Because of that, you are not so exposed to the elements as you would be on other treks in Nepal.

It is possible to the Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek throughout the year, but the months from March to May and from October or November are the most popular for trekking this classic. You can read more about the most favorable trekking and hiking seasons in Nepal in this blog post.

Safety Features of Poon Hill Short Trek

TIMS and Permits for the Poon Hill trek

Like for any other trek inside the sanctuary you need to get a permit and a TIMS card. Both can be obtained at the Tourist Information Center in Pokhara, about 1,5 km from Lakeside. The office is open Mon to Sun from 10 am to 5 pm. Total cost NPR 5000/US$43.

Note: The immigration office is located in the same building you can extend your visa there. To get a TIMS card and a permit you need your passport, insurance (nobody asks to show it you just need the details to fill in), and a contact person in Nepal (we usually give our hotel details). No other documents needed.

Trekkers Information Management System (TIMS) :

To get the TIMS card;

First, fill the form that you get at the counter (name, insurance number, passport details, address in Nepal, contact information, etc.)
Second, take a photo. No need to bring your own photos they take it right there at the office and it’s free of charge (4 passport size photos, it’s included in the price of your TIMS card).
Third, give the filled form, two photos, and pay NRP 2000/US$17 pp. paid cash in Nepalese Rupee at the counter.
Forth, get your TIMS.

The TIMS card is valid only for a single entry to the park every time you exit you’ll need a new TIMS card to enter the park again. The same with the permit you need a new one every time you enter the park. If you’re planning to do several hikes inside Annapurna Sanctuary it’s better (cheaper) to stay all the time inside the park than to go back to Pokhara after every hike.

Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP):

To get the Annapurna Sanctuary Permit;

First, after getting your TIMS card go to the next-door room and get the form
Second, fill in the form
Third, hand the filled form, passport, two photos, and NRP 3000/US$26 pp. paid cash in Nepalese Rupee at the counter.
Forth, get your permit.

Insurance for the trek

Travel Insurance for Poon Hill TrekThe Poon Hill trek is a moderate altitude hike that involves exhausting long ascents and dangerous steep descents, most of the time the route goes through remote areas having travel insurance is highly recommended. In fact, it’s required for getting your hiking permit. Nobody has ever asked us to show our insurances but when you fill the form they ask you to provide the name and the phone number of your insurance company.

There are many travel insurance companies we’d recommend using one that has experience in covering outdoor activities like World Nomads. Nepal is one of their top hiking destinations with thousands of people buying World Nomads insurance policies for trekking here so they know local specifics. Their insurance is very flexible you can buy one that covers the entire trip or just the period of the trek.

For example, if you have cheaper travel insurance that doesn’t cover high altitude activities you can buy a World Nomads policy covering only the hike. You can get insurance just a day before the planned activity or even the same day, it takes just a couple of minutes, quick and easy.

Cost for Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek

Our total budget breakdown for 4 days, 2 people.

-TIMS card – NPR 4000/US$36 (NPR 2000/US$17 per person)
-Annapurna Sanctuary permit – NPR6000/US$54 (NPR 3000/US$26 per person)
-Accommodation – NPR 800/US$7
-Transport – NPR 1700/US$15
-Food – NPR 8000/US$72
-Total: NPR 20 500/US$186 for two people or NPR 10 250/US$93 per person.

Accommodation on this Ghorepani Poon Hill trek is very cheap between NPR 200/US$2 and NPR 300/US$3 for two people, in the peak season, April and October, prices might go up to NPR 400. If you’re one person they usually charge NPR 200/US$2 per room. At some places, the original price might be higher but you always can negotiate it. Remember to say that you’re going to eat dinner and breakfast at the place.

A meal on the Poon Hill trek costs between NPR 400/US$4 and NPR 600/US$6 per person depending on what you order, meat dishes are more expensive, vegetable and egg dishes are cheaper. A cup of tea is between NPR 60-100/US$1. A cup of hot water 50. A pot of hot water (1l) – NPR 150/US$1,3. A big plate of pasta or rice – NPR 500/US$4,5. The most expensive stuff to buy on the trek is bottled or canned drinks, for a small bottle of Coke or juice you’ll pay NPR 250/US$2,2. In general, food prices are about 30-40% higher than in Pokhara.

Water on the trek. We used our LifeStraw bottle and used tap water for drinking there are water taps along the way where you can refill your bottle. Having some sort of filter or purification pills will save quite a bit of money. One liter of drinking water (bottled or refilled) costs between 50 and 100 depending on the place. You’ll need at least 2l of water per person a day if you buy it every time you can add NPR 150-200/US$2 pp. to your daily budget.

Transport is easy and cheap especially if you take local buses, jeeps are two to three times more expensive but I believe more comfortable and faster. Bus from Pokhara to Nayapul costs NPR 200/US$2 pp., bus from Ghandruk to Pokhara NPR 500/US$4,5, bus from Kande to Pokhara – NPR 150/US$1,2

If you wonder how much money to take on the hike I’d suggest having at least NPR 2000/US$18 per person per day, it’ll be enough to pay for accommodation and three meals. If you’re planning to buy snacks, cool drinks, chocolates, souvenirs, etc. on the way – NPR 2500/US$23 pp. per day.

Extra Charge If you want to Hire a Guide/Porter

If you hire a guide, add to the above budget US$25 per day, for a porter US$20. That price includes guide’s/porter’s accommodation and food you don’t have to pay any extra but they will expect tips at the end of the Poon Hill trek.

Final Words on Cost of a Tour

There are different options as well depending on the services you get, the number of people in the group, food and transport arrangements for an all-inclusive tour you’ll pay between US$50-60 per person per day (usually it includes Annapurna Sanctuary permit and TIMS card). If you decide to join a tour I’d recommend choosing a reputable established company rather than go for a bit cheaper option with someone you don’t know.

Annapurna Base camp Trek

Annapurna Base Camp Trek is also popularly known as ABC Trek. It is one of the best treks that allows you to experience beautiful scenarios, the culture of people living in high altitudes, e.t.c.

About the trek

Annapurna Base Camp Trek is way around one of the remote traditional villages where our journey heads towards greetings of provincial people exceeding lush green growth with scenery snow-covered white mountains with fine views and a delightful blend of cultures unprecedented by any other treks in the World.

Annapurna Base Camp is by far one of the most beautiful treks. It’s a path to the brilliant bastard amphitheater of the extremely elegant peaks of the Annapurna mountain range. ABC trek is the most familiar and vibrant hike in the Himalayas of Nepal. The journey starts from Pokhara in the foothills of the Annapurna and dies through charming villages of Magar and Gurung public as Gurkha soft soldiers recuperate. The lushness of the Rhododendron woodland, happy villages, and sky kissing mountains landscapes within just 8 days or less constitute an outdoor journey one of the most popular.

The journey is indifferently full of exciting bums of ups and downs on the rough trail. Annapurna base camp at (4,130 )m is a funnel-shaped valley with panoramic inspection of Annapurna South, Annapurna I (8,097m/26,566ft), Tent peak, Fishtail, and others. Melting snow of the immense rock faces form a glacier that drains into the Modi River.

Annapurna I is the tenth highest peak in the world and is the first of the 8,000 m peak climbed as early as in 1950.

Salient Features

Benifits

Overview

Annapurna Base Camp Trek is one of the most popular journeys in Nepal. Annapurna Base Camp is a Grade B or a temperately laborious trekking route. So, any fit person can do this trek, even if you do not have any previous experience. It is a considerably easy and shorter trek than other high altitude treks in Nepal. You should be aware of what to expect and mentally prepare for it. Then, as long as you dare to, you can. This trek incorporates diverse terrain, culture, and wildlife. Along with the most spectacular and close up view of the Annapurna range, Machhapuchhre, Hiunchuli, and Dhaulagiri.

The ABC Trek is also known as the Annapurna Sanctuary Trek because you walk along the protected area’s trail. The journey can be considered as much of an ecclesiastical journey as a venturesome one. It is considered one of the most beautiful sanctuaries globally- protecting not only the floral and faunal species of the land but also its natural environment and the local ethnic culture. You can enjoy and encounter local ethnic Gurung and Magar cultures at small settlements and villages throughout the trip sitting at an altitude of (4,130m/13,549ft).

The Sanctuary is an oval-shaped plateau that is surrounded by a ring of the Annapurna Mountains. Due to its unique terrain, trekking through it presents you with a flourishing Himalayan ecosystem that consists of lush woodlands blended with drier terrains. As you ramble along the unsophisticated trails that are adorned with rhododendron canopies, you can also come across Thakali people who have dainty villages at the foothills of the Annapurna Himalayas.

Encountering small chores and goombas, the trekking trail is a tranquil journey of exotic traditions that transports you to another time. Gliding farmlands and terrace rice farms are also a common sight while trekking, and thick pine and bamboo forests make the adventure a relaxing escape away from the bustling cities.

The most popular trekking destination Annapurna Base Camp trek, also known as the sanctuary trek; combined with dramatic views of the mountain ranges against the blue sky, nature in its untouched form in the rural villages, it’s a hike to the huge amphitheater enclosed by a solid wall of snow-capped peaks, the Annapurna base camp.

We kick start our trek at Nayapul/Birethanti, a town that’s a short drive away from Pokhara. We trek through the rice terraces along the rushing Modi river to Tikhedhunga/ulleri. We stay there overnight to recharge ourselves, and the next day of our trek, we reach Ghorepani. You can explore the villages and interact with the people to get an insight into their life and culture. It’s a slightly harder hike, but you’ll be rewarded with fantastic views of the Annapurnas, Machhapuchhare, and Hiunchuli, as well as our first peak of Dhaulagiri.

Early morning, the next day, we make our way to Poon Hill to watch the renowned sunrise over the snowcapped Himalaya. From Poon Hill, we go to Tadapani, then Chomrong, and finally the Annapurna Base camp where we see a fantastic sight of glaciers and mountain ranges from Hiunchuli, past Annapurna South to Annapurna I (8,097m/26,566ft) Gangapurna, Khangsar Kang, Annapurna III, and Machhapuchhare. Then we return to Nayapul through bamboo on our way. We stop by Jhinu Danda to relax in the natural hot springs there. our trek finishes, and we drive back to Pokhara.

Annapurna Base camp trek is not particularly strenuous but of unparalleled beauty to that of other treks, which is also a reason for its popularity. This is just an 11-day Annapurna Base Camp trek, but for those who don’t have that much time and are willing to push themselves a little, we also have a & days Annapurna base camp trek, where you get the same experience within a week!

The route follows pleasantly through the fertile jungle and terraced fields along a rushing river.
